my hobbies
my mom used to decorate wedding cakes. My cousin asked if i could possibly make his. Last month (feb/09) i taught myself how to make the flowers I used to see my mom make..and here it is! It turned out lovely! He was soo happy!

It's a bears life
peek a boo!
I am a country girl through and through, living in an isolated town on the wild mainland coast of Canada. I was born and raised here and prefer it to the cities. I am a lumber jill for the last 7 years....gonna get a woodcutter for next years wood though as I am getting a little nervous of the axe when I cut wood for the wood stove lol...might be a plan! I'll just cut the kindling
I guess you could say, I 'm a jill of all trades....I have switched careers a few times, BUT I am retired now. I went to college and then started my first career as a Cartographer, drawer of maps for those that dont know that word. After a few years, the light tables I worked on triggered a disease in my eyes, so to save my sight , I had to stop working on light tables. So next, I became a head bartender, and because it was all night shifts on my days off, I catered to dinners, weddings and other parties. I looked after other people's kids during the day as well. I quit bartending after 10 years, due to more sight loss, but kept my catering company for a few more years.
When my moms kidneys started failing, I quit all work and did 24/7 care for her. Because we live in an isolated community, she decided to go with peritoneal dialysis. The regular dialysis meant we had to go to Vancouver, which we did for a little while, but it got tedious after awhile..6 hours driving and two ferries in that 6 hours, every third day...an exhausting schedule cause we would then have 6 hours to get back home...felt like we were always on the road..
When mom passed on, it was a blessing, as her last years were not happy ones.
But what to do next..I d been out of the work force awhile now...I took cook jobs and put myself through school again, this time I got a degree in journalism and promptly got a job as a bookkeeper lol
I left that job 2 years ago
In between, through all the years I painted and drew pen and ink pictures of birds animals, mostly. I sold most of what I did, only have a few kicking around to show that I used to do that. I dont much anymore though, too hard on my eyes.
I am a Leader of a TOPS group, guiding people through weight loss. I have been a Leader for most of the last 20 years. I personally, have lost 186 lbs. I still have about a 100 pounds to go... Its a struggle to lose weight when you are diabetic...at least for me anyways
I am an insulin dependent diabetic, as well as legally blind. I have three mottoes that I live by......live and let live........dance like no one is watching
Life is too short, so stop and smell the
roses along the way!
When I came to yuku.com...I knew nothing about skins or the creation of them, i never played with graphics, that was the beginning of Nov 2008....I fell in love with making skins and now have a storage board for them! I am a diabetic

I am a diabetic. I take insulin everyday usually 4 times a day, sometimes more. I have to prick my fingers many times a day to take blood readings. I am a walking pin cushion.
Looking after my diabetes is a full time job, there is no time off. There is no playing hookey from it. There is no ' oh come on, it won't hurt you' about this disease. It can and DOES kill. I know, my dad died from it at the tender age of 48.
I have almost died a few times, and...
